Peter created TWiki in 1998 and gradually converted it into a community driven open source project. He is very actively supporting the TWiki community on twiki.org, fostering the collaboration in the Codev web and Plugins web, and supporting the TWiki users in the Support web. He estimates that he spent over 10,000 volunteer hours on the open source TWiki project over the last 8 years.

Peter contributed the following key features to TWiki: Many syntax rules, version control, file attachments, multiple webs, e-mail notfication, TWiki access control, multi-level preferences settings, access statistics, web-based registration, original TWikiForms, search and Formatted Search, initiated TWiki Variables, TWiki Templates system and skins feature, many Plugin API enhancements, RSS & ATOM feeds, large part of documentation.
