2006-01-02: Joyful and Successful New Year 2006 (short version)
From Peter
I wish you the best of luck, good health and lots of success in 2006!
We had an eventful year. In March we went to Cancun for a few days, a vacation
trip sponsored by Wind River. In August we had full house with relatives visiting
from Hong Kong. They came to the wedding of Vinny and Ken Lam in San Francisco.
Shona was very busy in August and September helping organize the
Moon Festival of the Silicon Valley.
At times her cell phone rang every few minutes; she was in charge of the booth.
Besides my family, I spend time on the free software project
TWiki, which keeps me pretty busy.
Last year I had
14 speaker engagements.
Upcoming presentations on the wiki technology are at the
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo
in Boston, Toronto and probably San Francisco.
In June I quit my job at Wind River to work on a
book on wikis for the workplace.
In November, co-author Dan Woods and I started a new
company called StructuredWikis LLC to provide consulting and training services
to companies using wikis. I am currently working at home for a client in New York.
We live a healthy life, thanks to the excellent cuisine of Shona. Overall I am in
good health; however, in November I went to the Stanford University Hospital to
fix my heart. Last year I had two cases of
SVT, a very
fast heart beat caused by an electric short circuit in the heart. The doctors did a
Cardiac Ablation
procedure to prevent future short curcuits. All went well; thanks god I am living in
the 21st century.
I wish to meet you again soon in person, either in Europe, Asia, or at our home in sunny
California. You can send me also an instant message (AOL IM:

Happy New Year! Some field trips that I went to in 2005 were terrific.
Age of Sail was a really
great field trip where I got to go on a historic ship in San Francisco. The
ship's name is The Balclutha. I hope to go there again.
This year, I am going to go to another field trip that is in the Saratoga
mountains. Fifth graders are going to a science camp called Walden West. This
trip is in January.
I don't really have anything else to say. Once again, Happy New Year!
